Week of 2.6 to 2.10- World War I sources of Dissent and the Rise of the Constitution Exam

Students enter this week needing to be that "silent guardian" or "dark knight" of their own academic fortresses. With conferences concluding, students have to seize "the fierce urgency of now" and recognize that time is fleeting. There has to be a sense of fortification and drive towards their academic success and it starts with this week. Perhaps, students can become not necessarily the hero that their academic success needs, but rather what their academic success deserves. With this, our work for this week:

Monday: Collect cornucopia of items. Take questions on Judicial Branch. Start discussion of Amendments.

HW: Prepare for Friday’s quiz on Judicial Branch and Amendments.

Tuesday: Continue with amendments.

HW: Prepare for Friday’s quiz on Judicial Branch and Amendments.

Wednesday: In class study day with station rotation. Distribute field trip permission slips.

HW: Prepare for Friday’s quiz on Judicial Branch and Amendments. Field trip permission slips are due and parent chaperones sorely needed.

Thursday: Finalize discussion of amendments.

HW: Prepare for Friday’s quiz on Judicial Branch and Amendments. Field trip permission slips are due and parent chaperones sorely needed.

Friday: Take quiz.

HW: Field trip permission slips are due and parent chaperones sorely needed. The Constitution Exam will start the on 2.21 and go until 2.24. Just a thought, but studying might be a good thing.

Thursday: Read “Statement to the Court” by Debs. Discuss implications.

HW: Annotate “Speech from Canton, Ohio” by Debs.

Friday: Read “Red Scare” blurb in textbook along with Sacco/ Vanzetti, and Closing to Zinn’s “War is the Health of the State”

HW: Annotate Dos Passos’ poem or Millay’s poem.
