Mark it down: A Quick Blog Entry

After a week of revisions, conferences, and, of course, a two day, 1700 point Constitution Exam, perhaps less is more. With this in mind, a quick blog entry.

7th Grade
Revisions of the Chapter 5 Exam will be Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday during lunch.
Students should be working on their Chapter 5 Writing Assessments for Nightly Homework this week.

8th Grade
Revisions of the Writing Exam from the Constitution Exam will be due on Friday.
Students will have nightly work this week relating to their Monopoly Exercises. We will start our mini- lesson Immigration this Friday. (Congratulations to all of our 8th graders who passed the State Requirement for the Constitution.) This link was sent to me by a parent/ student and thought some of you might find it interesting to examine.

If I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. Grades will be updated as of Sunday night, before "Football Night in America."

All best.

  1. "America is a country founded on illegal immigration" this is a very interesting quote because when you are growing up in America you are told by your parents about how this country is based on immigrants you hear about the stories at Ellis Island and the stories about struggling to get to a better place but that has know come under question with the topic of illegal immigration now some of our famous leaders who immigrated from other countries have come under the microscope to find if they entered the country legally. This quote in my opinion is true some of the people who built the railroads and created the Erie Canal and many other great American wonders had to have been illegal immigrants but who can blame them leaving everything they had to leave at dictatorship where they are treated unfairly or have no chance to succeed coming to a country in witch fairness is the law and all have a chance to succeed.

  3. My take on the the Arizona immigration in Arizona is that it is a joke. It singles out all colored races. Example, if they see a white man or women who could be an illegal immigrant who is Swedish, they would not ask for papers for that person. IF they saw an Indian man or women, they would ask for papers. They base all accusations on the looks of people. That makes no sense at all to me.

  4. On the line, "America has been a nation founded on illegal immigrants." I agree to this because we overtook the Indians land. We were not illegal immigrants because the Indians did not have any laws about others coming to their land. It still was a bad thing to do, but it just was not illegal immigrating.

  5. I don't think that the Arizona immigration law is fair because if people just want to have more rights then you should let them instead of punishing them.

  6. I think that the quote is correct because not all of our country is American, we have many different races.

  7. i think that the quote "children born in America to illegal immigrants are legal citizens of it" is a fair quote because if I think if you are born in a country you are a citizen of it.

  8. i think the quote "America should make English its national language" is not a fair statement because there are other races that only know how to speak other languages and it isn't fair to make them learn English.

  10. An image i think relates to immigrants is the soviet sickle and hammer due to the fact that they both stand for low class workers and in the mind of Americans the definition an immigrant is a person who works hard all day and receives little pay keeping them in the lower class and also in this URL http://www.zenker.se/Surprise/hammaren_skaeran.jpg
the barb wire is the american people keeping these immigrants from achieving their true potential and make their dreams of livng in capitalist market where everyone has the same chance to succeed
